Single Dads Opt for Online Dating - 6.15.2007 [more]
Single dads in the US say that online dating is their preferred method of meeting singles, according to a May 2007 survey by online dating site True of its members. With only online daters being surveyed, the results were not surprising. Three-quarters of respondents said that online dating was the easiest way for single parents to meet others. Two-thirds said that online dating was a safer way to date. Two-thirds also regarded screening for criminals and married people to be very important. Another 26% thought that such policies were convenient, but not important. Asked if online dating helped balance time between work, dating and family, 37% said yes. More than half of single fathers said they went out on traditional dates less than once a month. Herb Vest of True said, "Balancing work and family alone can be difficult for anyone, but it's even harder for the millions of single parents. It's not surprising that single fathers place such a high value on time and safety. Online dating allows singles to learn about a potential partner before ever meeting them in person." |
