Anecdotal:: Take your 2nd gut feeling

November 24, 2007

Study has shown to don't go with your 1st instinctive choice.  In a study in the Journal of Personality and Social Psychology, college students who were torn between two answers on a multiple choice exam tend to stick with their first choice, which was usually wrong.

"The problem comes when we begin to question our first instinct but stick with it anyways." says Justin Kruger, PhD., an assistant professor of psychology at the University of Illinois at Urbana Champiagn.
